MONASH, drawn by Lat

At the 2024 event Lat agreed to create a special artwork for Monash University Malaysia, to be called Scenes of Monash Life. This is that artwork. Lat drew the word MONASH as six pieces of Malaysia, in the spirit of his Scenes of Malaysian Life: a kampung house, a circle of faces, the Sultan Abdul Samad clock tower, a wau bulan, Merdeka 118 and the Petronas Twin Towers. The drawing became MONASH BY LAT, a collection of T-shirts and polos launched with the opening of The Monash Shop (Malaysia) on 20 October 2026.

On Tuesday 20 October 2026, MONASH BY LAT, a collection from Lat’s drawing of Monash in the spirit of his Scenes of Malaysian Life, was launched with the official opening of The Monash Shop (Malaysia).

Two lions stood at the door as Lat and guests cut the ribbon under a shower of blue confetti. Lat then signed a MONASH BY LAT T-shirt, which went on show on an easel beside the shop.
